Orctober

New edition of Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game is an awesome game. I have now played two games against my friend's elves. Both games were full of cinematic moments. I also painted up some Morannon orcs from the new starter set for the latter match. First game was dominion, with my Harad: Harad archery backed up with Betrayer's poison was fatal. I killed about 6 elves, before they hit my ranks. They killed much more, but it was still enough to tip the balance for me The twins and remaining elves slaughtered a lot of Haradrim. But eventually my core held the elves enough that I managed to capture three out of five objectives. In the second game, I played with Mordor and the scenario was the Rugby scenario where there is an objective in the center of field taht you have to capture and carry on the other side of the table. Not a good match against elves as I didn't have any shooting. I had a troll though... I put my faith in ranks of orcs.

Saga tournament

We had a small Saga tournament at the Nopat & Taktiikka club in Helsinki a week ago. There were couple of cancellations during the preceding week and in the end there were 4 players in addition to me. Fun thing that two of the players came from quite far away for the tournament. Much respect for them. Having uneven number of players meant that I didn't get to play, but I had more time to build the models from my fresh Battle of Pelennor Fields boxed set for Middle Earth SBG. And finally I got to play as one of the players from our club gave me the opportunity to stand in for the final round for 2 vs 2 game. First round was the Clash of Warlords, straight from the book. On one table Tommi's Anglo Danes battled it out with Olli-Pekka's Vikings and on the other Joel's Vikings faced Matti's Scots, while my Irish were farming on the remaining table. On second round we played a breakthrough scenario, which was a modified Lord of the Rings scenario, where both play

Hi, as a follow up to yesterday's post of the general theme of the project, now a further detailing of the primary force. As said in the other post, the army started out as an army for Age of Sigmar, but I had in my mind all the time that I can use it for other stuff as well. Mainly it was a good excuse to paint some models that I had collected along the years without a proper home and some other models that I happened to like. Main body of the force are made from Perry plastics, that are some of my favourite kits ever produced by any company. The models are characterful, have nice details and realistic proportions. I'm not so interested on "button counting" historical wargaming so by fantasyfying them, I had the opportunity to use all of them, without spending too much energy on contemplating if something is wrong for the period. The project was heavily inspired by the Dark Age of Sigmar community and the main theme on the force is to visualize ordinary folk livi
